Beaches
With 40km of unspoilt golden beaches, scuba diving spots with great reefs and colourful corals, sea safaris to spot great white sharks, P.E’s beaches have been awarded Blue Flag status for the year 2008/9 season. It is one of Africa’s water sport capitals.

KINGS BEACH: One of the countries most famous and safest beaches boasts 2km of white sand stretching from the harbour wall to Humewood. MacArthur’s Baths Swimming Pool Complex is situated along the Kings Beach Promenade. Lifeguards are permanently on duty at the complex. The Complex has the following facilities; two up-market restaurants, a boutique, public toilets, change rooms, paddling pools, kiddies’ playgrounds and fresh water pools.
SARDINIA BAY: Is Port Elizabeth’s most picturesque beach, but also one of the most dangerous for swimmers due to strong rip tides and backwash. This unspoilt stretch of our coastline is a magnificent sight and a very popular surfing beach. Picnic places and braai facilities are available, so pack a basket and spend a day relaxing with family and best friends.
HOBIE BEACH: Is located near to the Boardwalk. It is usually the venue for the annual “Splash Festival” as well as beach volleyball and the World Boardsailing Championships. Hobie Beach is a favourite for swimming, sunbathing and bodysurfing.
POLLOK BEACH: Is well known to the surfing community because of the excellent waves.
HUMEWOOD BEACH: This beach provides safe swimming, body surfing, sunbathing and long beach walks.
BLUEWATER BAY: Is a magnificent stretch of beach. Facilities offered include a car park, children’s playground, good swimming, fishing and surfing opportunities.
